Questia Media (Houston, TX), a company that will provides online access to books, journals and periodicals, has entered into agreements with Stanford University Stanford University, at Stanford, Calif.; coeducational; chartered 1885, opened 1891 as Leland Stanford Junior Univ. (still the legal name). The original campus was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. David Starr Jordan was its first president.  Press and Pearson Education Pearson Education is an international publisher of textbooks and other educational material, such as multimedia learning tools. Pearson Education is part of Pearson PLC. It is headquartered in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey.  to license electronic rights to their publications. At launch in January 2001, the service is targeted primarily to students and researchers and offers access to over 50,000 scholarly books and journals. Besides Stanford and Pearson, Questia says it now has electronic publishing agreements with 100 publishers, including Columbia University Press Columbia University Press is an academic press based in New York City and affiliated with Columbia University. It is currently directed by James D. Jordan (2004-present) and publishes titles in the humanities and sciences, including the fields of literary and cultural studies, , University of Chicago Press The University of Chicago Press is the largest university press in the United States. It is operated by the University of Chicago and publishes a wide variety of academic titles, including The Chicago Manual of Style, dozens of academic journals, including , Duke University Press, Amadeus Press and M.E. Sharp, Inc.
