Quest Software Now Provides Automated De-Provisioning and Enhanced Change Approval.

New Version of ActiveRoles Server Strengthens Solutions for Simplified Identity Management

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- Granting, changing and revoking access to system resources (1) In a computer system, system resources are the components that provide its inherent capabilities and contribute to its overall performance. System memory, cache memory, hard disk space, IRQs and DMA channels are examples.  is at the heart of identity management. Organizations that rely on Active Directory need a secure, efficient way to manage the full lifecycle of user access. Quest Software The computer-software manufacturer Quest Software (Quest Software, Inc.) (NASDAQ: QSFT), headquartered in Aliso Viejo, California, dates from 1987. Quest develops, sells, and supports database management, Windows management, and application management software products , Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT) today introduced version 6.0 of Quest ActiveRoles Server to help organizations automatically provision, re-provision and de-provision users quickly and securely. New capabilities include a change approval process and automated user de-provisioning. ActiveRoles Server is a key component in Quest's simplified Identity Management strategy that also includes Vintela Authentication (1) Verifying the integrity of a transmitted message. See message integrity, e-mail authentication and MAC.

(2) Verifying the identity of a user logging into a network.
 Services (see related releases).

"A major compliance and IT control concern we hear from customers is the need to terminate account access in a timely manner when a user leaves the company," said Jackson Shaw, senior director, product management, Quest Software. "If administrators fail to promptly terminate an account, organizations are at risk, and compliance standards are not met.

"With our new automated de-provisioning capability, the user account is disabled, all changes are recorded and reports of these changes can be generated," Shaw continued. "This saves time and improves efficiency; but more importantly, it closes a potential security loophole A vulnerability in software, typically in the operating system, that enables an attacker to compromise the system. See vulnerability. ."

When human input is needed to make sure that all changes made to Active Directory data are consistent with business and regulatory requirements, ActiveRoles Server offers new change approval capabilities. This complement to the automated management of directory data allows responsible individuals to manually accept or deny directory change requests and to monitor the execution of tasks.

Once an organization's Active Directory environment is well managed and secure, ActiveRoles Server can be extended via optional add-on applications including:

* ActiveRoles Quick Connect - Simplifies connecting ActiveRoles Server to an authoritative data source, such as a Human Resource or ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) An integrated information system that serves all departments within an enterprise.
