Quaartz Names Former PricewaterhouseCoopers Partner as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Quaartz Inc., the pioneering Internet Timecasting company that transforms the static Web calendar into an interactive personal information and time management solution, today announced that Howard Slayen, a former Corporate Finance Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers, has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO). Slayen, who brings more than 30 years of tax and financial expertise to the Quaartz.com team, is responsible for the Company's overall financial and administrative operations.

For the previous 10 years, Howard served as Corporate Finance Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (formerly Coopers & Lybrand), managing the firm's Corporate Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions Practice in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. In this role, he counseled such industry leaders as AT&T, British Telecom, Cisco Systems, GeoCities, and Inktomi on financing and mergers and acquisitions.

During his tenure at the legacy firm of Coopers and Lybrand, Howard served on the National Mergers and Acquisitions Steering Committee, High Technology Industry Group, Venture Capital Industry Steering Group and Tax Oriented Investment Steering Committee. Slayen holds a B.A. in Economics from Claremont McKenna College, and a J.D. from the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley.

Previously, he served as IT Consulting Manager of Sun Microsystems Integration Services. Ku holds a M.A. in marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, United Kingdom, a M.B.A. from Cranfield University School of Management, United Kingdom, and a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of California at Davis.

Simpson most recently served as Director of Engineering for Disney's GO

Network (formerly Infoseek), where she managed teams of engineers to deliver high performance, scalable Internet services. Previously, Simpson was Senior Engineering Manager for Java Multimedia at Sun Microsystems' JavaSoft business unit. She was also the architect of Sun's distributed calendaring application -- one of the first known productivity tools to run over the network. Simpson holds a B.A. in Journalism and M.S. in Computer Science from Indiana University.
