QUICK PAYS OFF BIG VALENCIA MAKES MOST OF CHANCES VALENCIA 49, BURBANK 24.

BURBANK - What Valencia lacked in quantity, the Vikings more than made up for in quality Friday night. They ran only 30 plays but gained 321 yards in a 49-24 victory over Burbank in a Foothill League game.

Valencia (6-2, 2-1) erased a 3-0 first-quarter deficit scoring 29 points in a span of 7:30 of the second quarter on only 13 offensive plays.

Burnley's 12-yard touchdwon run completed and 81-yard scoring drive in six plays and gave the Vikings a 7-3 lead with 9:57 left in the second quarter.

The Vikings came right back and scored with 7:25 remaining in the second quarter on a 53-yard pass from Zachary Ward to Desmond Blair.

Burnley scored Valencia's next two touchdowns on runs of 28 yards and 1 yard as the Vikings took a commanding 28-7 lead with 2:27 left till halftime. Burnley finished with 149 yards on 12 carries.

Valencia struck just as quickly in the second half as Burnley scored on a 59-yard touchdown run and teammate Christopher Hightower ran back a punt 51 yards and the Vikings led 42-3 with 6:05 remaining in the third quarter.

Burbank (1-7, 0-3), which ran 72 plays, took and early 3-0 lead on a 29-yard field goal by Chris Chantland as the Bulldogs ran 21 offensive plays to only five by the Vikings in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter as Mike Baker scored on touchdown runs of 12 and 2 yards and teammate Roger Starkey scored on a 6-yard touchdown run. Baker finished with 87 yards on 19 carries and Oscar Flores had 99 yards on 14 carries for the Bulldogs.
