``We chose the oldest person who walks in the mall,'' Simon said.

Gorney says she has been walking at the mall for about four years and does a couple miles a day. Her son, Don, a runner himself, got her interested in walking for exercise.

Tuesday was the mall's fifth Senior Day, which offered entertainment, blood pressure checks, information on health care and other services, and special prices, as well as Antelope Valley Transit Authority Antelope Valley Transit Authority is the transit agency serving the cities of Palmdale and Lancaster and their suburbs.
