QUARTZ HILL KNOWS THE SCORE REBELS TIGHTEN THEIR OFFENSE, BUT RESULTS ARE STILL THE SAME.

``Playing with Shauna was one of the things I was really looking forward to this year,'' said Andrea, a senior who was an All-Southern Section selection and team MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994. It's just exciting to have her on varsity with me.''

It took three games - and a lot of encouragement from Andrea - for Shauna to break into the starting lineup For the line of action figures, see .

``I just told Shauna to work hard and keep practicing really hard and that's what she did,'' Andrea said. ``I knew she knew how to play.''

Andrea had a goal - on Shauna's assist - in Tuesday's 3-0 victory over Highland. Perhaps the Rebels are even better than last year, when they reached the Division II quarterfinals for the first time in school history. Coach Maury Cauchon thinks so, even though the girls aren't scoring as many goals as last year.

``The reason we're not scoring as much is because I'm controlling that,'' Cauchon said. ``I'm insisting that they score goals a certain way.''

Andrea has six goals, but her primary goal is to feed the ball to striker Shauna and forward Kellie Cox. Shauna has eight goals and Cox, who has committed to Cal State Fullerton, has 17.

Shauna is enjoying herself.

``It's really nice. I like it a lot,'' Shauna said. ``I didn't think I was going to play a lot, but that changed because of the way I practiced.''

Quartz Hill has given up just one goal in five league games - a late netter by Palmdale three games ago when against the Rebels' reserves. Cauchon gives much of the credit to the True sisters, both defensive specialists. J.T. is a senior and Stephanie is a junior.

The Cabriales sisters also play softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. She decided to take a year off from softball as a junior to concentrate on academics and soccer.

``I'm sure some people thought I was crazy for giving up softball because we've had such a good team,'' Andrea said. ``But it was just a matter of getting my priorities straight. I had a very tough academic schedule and softball games are earlier so you have to miss a lot of classes.''

Nevertheless, Andrea said she is looking forward to playing softball again.

``Because of my sister, I'm going to play again,'' Andrea said. ``Plus, I really miss it.''

``Shauna is supposed to be pretty good at softball, although we haven't had tryouts yet,'' softball co-coach Coy Ray said. ``I think she has a good chance. Andrea has been out a year but has decided to play again.
