QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), the leader in mobile communications solutions for the transportation industry, today showed its support of local and national homeland security efforts with a demonstration of advanced security features of its OmniTRACS(R) satellite-based mobile communications and tracking system. Attendees at the event that took place at QUALCOMM's San Diego headquarters included Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham (Calif.), who serves on the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee and the Select Committee on Intelligence; Warren Hoemann, vice president, California Trucking Association; and Ron Kiripolsky, vice president, Southern Pride Trucking. Also in attendance were representatives from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the City of San Diego Mayor's Office.

QUALCOMM also publicly announced today its voluntary support of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), which is responsible for ensuring safety in the commercial motor vehicle industry. If requested by the FMCSA, QUALCOMM will broadcast nationwide to truck drivers, a public service warning or notice over its OmniTRACS and OmniExpress(R) mobile communications systems.

Attendees at today's event were able to view live demonstrations of QUALCOMM's security technology truck, an 18-wheeler truck equipped with satellite-based mobile communications and position-tracking systems, as well as associated safety and security technology, including:

-- On-board and wireless panic buttons

-- Driver I.D. authentication and tamper detection alerts

-- Remote disabling of the truck in the event of a security breach due to on-board tamper detection or invalid driver log-in

-- Geofencing for alerting the trucking company when the vehicle enters restricted areas or leaves its designated route

All U.S. trucking carriers currently authorized to transport ammunition for the Department of Defense use the QUALCOMM system for messaging, position location reporting and incident response management.
