) today announced the addition of DECnet support for the complete line of QMS (1) (Minolta-QMS, Inc., Mobile, AL) A manufacturer of laser printers founded in 1977 by Jim Busby. Initially involved with controllers for printing bar codes and labels, it entered the laser printer business in the mid-1980s and set numerous records.  desktop printers, including the new QMS 2425 and the QMS magicolor CX.

This QMS solution for DECnet will enable existing DEC systems to utilize shared laser printers, and will bring a broad range of new laser printer features into the DECnet configured environment. QMS supplies the most complete range of DECnet-compatible laser printers, including 10 to 45 page per minute (ppm) monochrome print systems and 3 to 6 ppm color laser print systems.

In addition, Crown print systems can be simultaneously equipped with other network interfaces, allowing enterprises with mixed environments to share printing resources between computing platforms.

QMS Crown Print Systems

QMS offers a complete range of monochrome laser print systems with 10 to 45 ppm speeds, and color laser printers A laser printer that prints in color using four toner cartridges (CMYK) of cyan, magenta, yellow and black. The colors are applied one at a time to the drum and are then adhered to the paper. See printer.  offering 3 to 6 ppm in color and 12 ppm in monochrome. Pricing and Availability

The new QMS Crown Combo interface features an integrated 10BaseT adapter and supports the QMS 2425, QMS 1660E, QMS 1060E, and QMS magicolor CX print systems, and is priced at $799. Connectivity to Thin- and Thick-coax environments is available through the LANCAST interface translators, which are priced at $229.

The QMS Crown Classic interface is available for the QMS 4525, QMS 3825 and QMS 3225 print systems, and is priced at $999.
