) Monday announced the QMS (1) (Minolta-QMS, Inc., Mobile, AL) A manufacturer of laser printers founded in 1977 by Jim Busby. Initially involved with controllers for printing bar codes and labels, it entered the laser printer business in the mid-1980s and set numerous records.  3825 Print System, a high performance 38 ppm, 600 x 600 multi-network laser printer which supports full ledger (11" x 17") size printing.

In a related announcement, QMS lowered the price of the QMS 3225 Print System, a 32 ppm multi-network compatible print system. At its new price of $16,499, the QMS 3225 delivers high speed, seamless network monochrome Also called "mono." Refers to display screens that use one foreground and one background color; for example, black on white, white on black or green on black. The first terminals connected to mainframes and minicomputers were monochrome, and monochrome screens were widely used on early  printing at the lowest cost in its class.

Together, the QMS 3825 and QMS 3225 Print Systems provide users with the highest speed, highest resolution and best cost available for departmental print systems. QMS offers customers a complete family of high performance departmental network print systems that support multiple users in mixed platform environments.

Through the combination of QMS Crown(R) multitasking multitasking

, compile-ahead technology and RISC-based processing, both the QMS 3825 and QMS 3225 Print Systems provide exceptionally fast document throughput for network and client/server users.

Crown technology, a software based, open operating environment In computing, an operating environment is the environment in which users run programs, whether in a command line interface, such as in MS-DOS or the Unix shell, or in a graphical user interface, such as in the Macintosh operating system. , allows the QMS 3825 and QMS 3225 departmental print systems to serve many users on different platforms and networks, reducing the number of print devices needed in an enterprise and broadening output capabilities.

Because the QMS 3825 and QMS 3225 Print Systems deliver enhanced throughput to serve mid-volume production and general enterprise printing requirements, these two systems are ideal printing solutions for engineering, CAD, technical, and short-run service bureau users.

QMS CrownNet(TM) interface options seamlessly connect the QMS 3825 and QMS 3225 Print Systems to virtually any network or client/server environment A networking environment that is made up of clients and servers running applications designed for client/server architecture. CrownNet remote management software also provides job monitoring and remote control of network print systems.

Each of QMS' family of departmental network print systems includes QMS' unique SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) See laser sintering and 3D printing.  (software loadable system) technology to provide easy system upgrade capabilities. Unlike other printers which store printer operating software in difficult to replace ROM, SLS technology allows the printer operating system operating system (OS)

to be softloaded to the printer.

SLS allows easy upgrades with new options or features.

QMS' family of departmental multi-network print systems include the QMS 2025, QMS 2025 Turbo Imaging System, QMS 3225, QMS 3225 Turbo Imaging System, QMS 3825 and QMS 4525 Print Systems. QMS Crown technology is a key benefit of QMS printer architecture.

Crown provides common features across all QMS print systems, including advanced multitasking, mixed platform and network support, sophisticated document handling and print features, and easy upgradability.
