All QMS magicolor CX color laser printers feature a 40 MHz
RISC-based internal controller and can accommodate up to 64 MB of RAM
and up to 2.1 GB of internal hard drive. A comprehensive set of
system utilities and drivers are supplied with the printers,
including QuickDraw(R) GX and Windows(R) drivers, to improve overall
throughput and ease of use.
All four QMS magicolor CX models include ColorSmooth(TM) color
screening technology, QCOLOR(TM) color management tools, and microfine
toner support. QCOLOR matching capabilities include CIE-based color
matching, PANTONE(R) color matching, and ICC 3.0 and ColorSync(TM)
support. These advanced feature sets translate to outstanding image
quality for both business and desktop publishing professionals.
All QMS magicolor CX color printers are based on QMS Crown(R)
technology. QMS Crown multitasking architecture delivers fast
document print throughput, software loadable system, automatic

interface provides simultaneous multiprotocol support for multiple

QMS CrownCopy Option
The QMS CrownCopy(TM) option expands the functionality of the
magicolor CX, allowing it to serve as a convenient color copier as
well as a printer. CrownCopy allows the printer to make color copies
in the office, at an affordable cost. The copier option includes a
flat-bed desktop scanner for copier input and special QMS copy
software. The copier is easily attached to the printer through the
standard SCSI interface and is controlled from the printer's
multi-language front panel.
QMS CrownCopy can also be configured as a scanner to your PC or
Macintosh(R) computer. Quality color reproduction is assured
through host scanning software to scan images to your host PC or
Macintosh computer for fine tuning and printing.
Pricing and Availability
The QMS magicolor CX/40 is available immediately, and comes
equipped with 40 MB RAM, Ethernet or Token-Ring network interface,
internal hard drive, serverless printing software, SCSI interface,
and Energy Star compliance at a reference price of $8,499 (U.S).
Owners of other QMS magicolor CX models can upgrade to the CX/40
functionality using a simple software upgrade and industry-standard
RAM SIMMs. The software upgrade kit is priced at $129. Memory
upgrades are available in 4, 8, 16, and 32 MB SIMMs.
The QMS CrownCopy color copier option is available to QMS
magicolor CX customers for $1,499.
