Putting the world to Wrights.
Jazz is the music of time," said Liz Wright. "It's a weave of the sounds of bebop, blues and gospel, yet, it's made into jazz by individuals expressing themselves as people, writing songs which capture the spirit and news of their lifetime. It's ambiguous and indescribable."
Growing up the daughter of a minister and gospel singer, Wright was introduced to music at a young age, although maybe even younger than she or her parents ever knew or realised.
"My earliest memory of music was because of food. I had a favourite sweet bread, which had a picture of a little girl smiling on the back of the bag and whenever I saw it, I would hum the same melody in my head," she said laughing.
"I must have been very young, because I don't remember the melody, nor do I remember being able to speak yet. Making melodies was my first way of describing things in my mind. I've been blessed with a wonderful journey in music."
