The three Nafta members will work together to make sure that the FTAA's requirements are within reach of its smaller potential member countries, said the ministers.

The three countries are making advances in negotiation of the treaty's text, he said.

Since the launch of Nafta in 1994, trilateral trade between its members has doubled. While both Canada and Mexico have significant trade disputes with the United States, all of the ministers agreed that they are small compared to the total amount of trade between the three countries.
