Pushbutton Switches Line From Embossing to Casting.

A new five-extruder, seven-layer coex cast-film line from Davis-Standard Egan Film & Coating Systems, Pawcatuck, Conn., is the third and largest system built to date with a new automatic switchover from embossing embossing, process of producing upon various materials designs or patterns in relief by mechanical means. The material is pressed between a pair of dies especially adapted to its hardness and the depth of the design needed.  rolls to polished casting rolls. The Bi-Trac system moves the two complete sets of finishing rolls on tracks under the casting die, making the change in about 10 min. The new line has 129-in. rolls for making 120-in.-wide finished film.

The system was installed in January at Atlantis Plastics' custom films div. in Mankato, Minn., where it will make films with PE, PP, nylon, EVOH EVOH Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol Polymer (chemical industry)  and other resins. Products will include multi-layer and barrier films for packaging, sealant films for lamination lamination
