Push for watersports centre.

MEMBERS of the Barry Youth Watersports Committee joined forces with the Royal Yachting Association The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is the national governing body for watersports in the United Kingdom. Its involvement includes;
  • Sailing
  • Windsurfing
  • Motor cruising
  • Sportsboats
  • Personal watercraft
  • Powerboat racing
History
 in an attempt to push for a Watersports Centre in Barry Docks.

Their ambition is to ensure that young people have local and accessible opportunities to take part in watersports and discover the benefits which these activities can provide.

The Royal Yachting Association's "OnBoard" Scheme has also been launched at the Cardiff Bay Cardiff Bay (Welsh: Bae Caerdydd) is the regeneration area created by the Cardiff Barrage which impounded two rivers (Taff and Ely) to form a new 500 acre freshwater lake around the former dockland area south of the city centre of Cardiff in south Wales.  Visitors Centre in Cardiff.

"OnBoard" is the Royal Yachting Association programme to encourage youngsters to start sailing and windsurfing windsurfing, also called boardsailing or sailboarding, water sport that employs a board-and-sail device and combines elements of sailing and surfing. The sport was developed in the United States during the 1960s by the Californians Jim Drake, a sailor, and Hoyle .

The programme encourages ties between schools, youth groups and local sailing clubs and provides training and support so everyone can have a quality experience on the water with trained instructors and modern equipment.
