Pure Gold Resources Exploration Update - Northwest Territories.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 1996--PURE GOLD RESOURCES(TSE: PUG ) Donald R. Sheldon, President of Pure Gold Resources Inc. ("Pure Gold") is pleased to announce that the Company and its joint venture partner, Tenajon Resources Corp. ("Tenajon") have been informed by Ashton Mining of Canada Inc. ("Ashton") that a total of 1.3 tonnes of kimberlite have been recovered from the Orion target on the Cross Lake property, located in the South West region of the Slave Province of the Northwest Territories.

The sample is now in Ashton's Dense Media Separation (DMS) plant in North Vancouver, B.C. to test for +0.5 mm diamonds. Ashton has further advised that a portion of the sample will be delivered to laboratories in Australia and North America for microdiamond testing. The analysis of the kimberlite material is expected to commence shortly with results expected in approximately six weeks.

Ashton further reports that drilling on the Winnie anomaly has been completed and that the drill rig is being moved off the property. A kimberlite was not intersected at the Winnie anomaly, but Ashton intends to conduct further exploration of anomalies in the area this summer.

Ashton can earn a 50 percent interest in each kimberlite discovered on the Cross Lake property by providing all costs up to and including a 20 tonne bulk sample. Once Ashton has completed the bulk sample, Pure Gold has the right to increase its interest from 15 percent to 25 percent by incurring on behalf of Pure Gold and Tenajon, the next $1.5 million of exploration expenditures on the property. Ashton has the option to earn a further 1 percent from Pure Gold, leaving Ashton with 51 percent, Pure Gold with 24 percent and Tenajon with 25 percent interests in the property.

The Company has also been advised by Ashton that drilling equipment has been mobilized to the Roundrock property in the Northwest Territories. The Roundrock property, formerly known as the "Texas Star property" is a joint venture among Ashton (50 percent), Pure Gold (24.5 percent) and Lytton Minerals Ltd. (24.5 percent). Ashton is preparing to test a high priority target delineated by an intense indicator mineral dispersion fan. Two diamonds were recovered from till samples collected down-ice from this projected target.

Finally, Ashton has advised Pure Gold that it has reached an agreement in principle with Echo Bay Mines Ltd. ("Echo Bay") which will allow Ashton to undertake joint diamond exploration on Echo Bay's 100 percent owned leases in the area of the Lupin gold mine. Under the Lupin joint venture agreement, Pure Gold is entitled to earn up to 20 percent in Ashton's interests. The Lupin mine leases are located within the "Corridor of Hope" and only 20 km southeast of the Jericho pipe held be Lytton Minerals Ltd.
