Pulse, a Technitrol (NYSE:TNL) company, introduced a new single-pair high-speed digital subscriber line (SHDSL), HDSL2 and HDSL4 line transformer, part number B1074B, evaluated and approved by GlobespanVirata for use with its Orion G2237 chipset.

Applications include high-density access multiplexers, T1/E1 line cards and repeaters, routers, switches and cellular base stations.

The B1074B line transformer is engineered for minimum DC resistance for low power consumption, as well as a low leakage inductance level of 15 micro henries maximum. The transformer provides one of the smallest footprints in the industry (13,50mm x 17,65mm) and also features excellent total harmonic distortion (THD). The compact surface-mount (SMT) package is compatible with all contemporary pick-and-place processes.

Technical information

B1074B provides a turns ratio of 1:5.4 and return loss of 15dB minimum between 40 to 500 kHz. The line transformer meets UL 60950, IEC 60950 and GR 1089 supplementary insulation requirements for working voltages up to 250 Vrms. An extended operating temperature range of -40 degrees Celsius to +85 degrees Celsius ensures product stability with minimum drift throughout the entire temperature range.
