) Company, today announced a new range of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  802.3af compliant Power over Ethernet Power over Ethernet or PoE technology describes a system to transmit electrical power, along with data, to remote devices over standard twisted-pair cable in an Ethernet network.  (PoE), 10/100BASE-TX transformer modules, specifically designed for mid-span PoE applications. The use of products H1180, H1183 and H1197 immediately upgrades an existing Ethernet connection to a Power over Ethernet compliant solution, allowing a remote device to receive power and data over the same unshielded twisted pair See twisted pair.

(hardware) unshielded twisted pair - (UTP) Normal telephone wire (in the USA). It may be used for computer to computer communications, e.g. using a version of Ethernet or localtalk. It is much cheaper than standard "full-spec" Ethernet cable.

) cable. These new mid-span components eliminate time, cost and effort required to install a separate mains power line to feed remote equipment.

The H1180, H1183 and H1197 are placed in parallel (in-line) with the existing UTP Ethernet cabling architecture. Their high input impedance makes each transformer appear transparent to the existing Ethernet system, instantly upgrading the connection. This upgrade thus reduces cost and time-to-market for establishing a PoE-enabled system. The components can deliver 15 Watts of power to a remote device located 100 meters away, making them ideally suitable for remote power-feeding applications such as security camera equipment, wireless networking systems, remote sensors and transducers, and VoIP phones.

Technical Information

The modules deliver a minimum of 1,500 Vrms isolation and 350 mA capability and can operate over a temperature range from 0 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius. All three are compatible with pick-and-place manufacturing processes and Auto MDIX MDIX Medium Dependent Interface, Crossover

 applications.

Pricing and Availability

The new PoE magnetics series is available in tubes and tape-and-reel packaging, with prices starting at $1.60 per unit for quantities of 10,000. Prices may vary depending on shipping destination. Lead-time is four to six weeks. Volume discounts are available. Contact Pulse directly for samples. Please refer to data sheet H327 on Pulse's Web site at http://www.pulseeng.com/pdf/H327.pdf.
