Puget Sound Energy Electricity Rates.

News Editors/Energy Writers

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 21, 2000

Tacoma Power released a table on Dec. 19 comparing the electricity rates of its customers with those of Seattle City Light, Snohomish County PUD, and Puget Sound Energy (NYSE:PSD).

The table, reflecting recent rate surcharges enacted by Tacoma Power, Seattle City Light, and Snohomish PUD, incorrectly stated the cost of electricity for PSE's residential customers. Below is the table prepared by Tacoma Power - with a sixth column (b) added by PSE showing the correct PSE electric rates.

Note: The table reflects PSE's "winter" (October through March) rates; PSE's "summer" (April through September) rates are approximately 5 percent lower than the wintertime rates.

(a) The average household served by Puget Sound Energy consumes about

1,200 kWh per month during the winter. This "average" reflects

all PSE electric customers (those with electric space and/or

water heating and those with natural-gas space and/or water

heating). Tacoma Power's Dec. 19 table did not contain rate

comparisons for 1,200 kWh of power consumption.
