The PublishOne service uses a web-based interface to deliver a suite of features to publishers, including online encryption and hosting secure commerce transactions, subscription management, customer support, and comprehensive online reporting.

In addition, the service enables a powerful pass-along (or "super-distribution") sales channel for publishers through the ease of e-mail distribution. The content is protected throughout the entire process.

In August, PublishOne began piloting its service with more than 20 publishers, including market research firms such Yankelovich Partners Inc., market providers such as VNU's Trade Dimenstions, and newsletter publishers American Lawyer Media ALM (formerly American Lawyer Media), is a leading integrated media company, focused on the legal and real estate communities. ALM owns and publishes 33 national and regional magazines and newspapers focused on the legal and real estate communities, including  and Edventure Holdings Inc., publisher of Release 1.0: Esther Dyson's Monthly Report.

The service supports both subscription and single issue products such as special reports. Regarding research findings, for example, Regina Anderson, executive vice president of Yankelovich, one of the world's leading market research and consulting organizations, said, "What's compelling about the PublishOne service is that it allows us to leverage our content in ways that were never before possible. Founder and CEO Kirk Loevner was previously president and CEO of Internet Shopping Network where he conceived and developed First Auction, the first real-time online auction site.
