The Board of Supervisors is the body governing counties in the U.S. voted in late May to accept a $417,600 grant through the State of California's Sierra Nevada Sierra Nevada, mountain range, Spain Sierra Nevada (syā`rä nāvä`thä), chief mountain range of S Spain, in Granada prov., running from east to west for c.60 mi (100 km), parallel to the Mediterranean Sea. Cascade Grant Program to transform a 241-acre site in the Sierra Nevada foothills into the county's first natural park. The southern gateway to Yosemite National Park Yosemite National Park (yōsĕm`ĭtē), 761,266 acres (308,205 hectares), E central Calif.; est. 1890 as a result of the efforts of conservationist John Muir. Located in the Sierra Nevada, it is a glacier-scoured area of great beauty; Mt. , the Ahwahnee Hills Park will provide an attraction to the region's many visitors, while meeting the need for local open space and recreation resources for Madera County's residents. For the past six months, the National Park Service Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance (RTCA RTCA Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics RTCA Rivers Trails and Conservation Assistance (National Park Service) RTCA Rio Tinto Coal Australia RTCA Requirements and Technical Concepts for Aviation ) program has been assisting the county and a citizen-based planning committee planning committee n (in local government) → comité m de planificación to articulate the community's vision for the park, develop a conceptual park plan and generate a cost estimate for on-going operations and maintenance.
