The Board of Supervisors is the body governing counties in the U.S.
 voted in late May to accept a $417,600 grant through the State of California's Sierra Nevada Sierra Nevada, mountain range, Spain
Sierra Nevada (syā`rä nāvä`thä), chief mountain range of S Spain, in Granada prov., running from east to west for c.60 mi (100 km), parallel to the Mediterranean Sea.
 Cascade Grant Program to transform a 241-acre site in the Sierra Nevada foothills into the county's first natural park. The southern gateway to Yosemite National Park Yosemite National Park (yōsĕm`ĭtē), 761,266 acres (308,205 hectares), E central Calif.; est. 1890 as a result of the efforts of conservationist John Muir. Located in the Sierra Nevada, it is a glacier-scoured area of great beauty; Mt. , the Ahwahnee Hills Park will provide an attraction to the region's many visitors, while meeting the need for local open space and recreation resources for Madera County's residents. ) program has been assisting the county and a citizen-based planning committee planning committee n (in local government) → comité m de planificación  to articulate the community's vision for the park, develop a conceptual park plan and generate a cost estimate for on-going operations and maintenance. RTCA and the committee also developed a brochure to help expand the community-based partnership that will oversee operations and maintenance of the site in cooperation with the County.
