Public weighs-in on AHIC recommendations.


The Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) was created in 2005 as part of efforts by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC, part of the US Department of Health and Human Services) to  (HITSP HITSP Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel ) hosted an opportunity for public comment on documents the panel is using to draft its next list of recommendations to the American Health Information Community (AHIC). HITSP and AHIC are working together to implement standards for the secure exchange of interoperable healthcare data and the development of the nationwide health information network (NHIN). The documents included interoperability specifications for quality and consumer access to healthcare information on portable media and via networks as well as HITSP requirements, design, and standards selection. HITSP encouraged stakeholders to review the documents on their Web site (www. hitsp.org) and submit comments using an online tracking system that assigned comments to an appropriate HITSP technical committee for consideration. The public comment period closed October 16. HITSP is administered by the American National Standards Institute See ANSI.
