Public shows support for National Parks.


In a recent poll conducted by Harris Interactive Harris Interactive (NASDAQ: HPOL) is an American market research company that specializes in public opinion research using both telephone and surveys on online panels. The company is the product of a 1996 merger between the Gordon S. Black Company and Louis Harris & Associates.  that rated public support of 14 different government services, the National Park Service (NPS NPS National Park Service

) was the most popular service among respondents In the context of marketing research, a representative sample drawn from a larger population of people from whom information is collected and used to develop or confirm marketing strategy. .

The five most popular services were NPS with 85 percent support, crime-fighting and prevention services with 77 percent support, Medicare Medicare, national health insurance program in the United States for persons aged 65 and over and the disabled. It was established in 1965 with passage of the Social Security Amendments and is now run by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.  with 76 percent support, Social Security with 76 percent support and unemployment benefits with 74 percent support.

The survey indicated nearly universal support of NPS, with little change between political parties (83 percent of republicans support the service, as well as 88 percent of democrats).
