Public market hosts free outdoor concerts.


Byline: The Register-Guard

Fifth Street Public Market will have a Bach Party featuring free music performances on several outdoor stages beginning Friday and continuing through July 3. Here's the schedule:

Friday - Lo Nuestro Lo Nuestro is an awards show honoring the best of Latin music, presented by television network Univision. The awards began in 1989. Notable recipients include Gloria Estefan, Shakira, Selena, Celia Cruz and Juanes.  plays contemporary and traditional Latin music from noon to 1 p.m. (Fountain Courtyard), and Richard Long Richard Long may be:
  • Sir Richard Long (c.1494-1546) Gentleman of the Privy Chamber to Henry VIII
  • Richard Long (1668-1730) British Member of Parliament for Chippenham, Wiltshire
  • Richard Long (c1691-1760) British Member of Parliament for Chippenham, Wiltshire
 conducts a 15-piece Arts Umbrella Orchestra from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (The Promenade).

Saturday - African drumming by Ariel Storm Ariel Storm is an Ambient Dream pop duo consisting of Kai Ariel and Ariana Storm. Official website:[1] The two met in San Francisco in 1988 and were married in 1993. They released the self-titled "Ariel Storm" CD in 2006 on Carefree & Bohemian Records. , noon to 1 p.m. (Fountain); Chibuku (formerly Zanga Zanga) plays original and traditional African music African music, the music of the indigenous peoples of Africa. June 28 - Marc Evans and high school musicians play classical and new compositions for violin and piano, noon to 2 p.m. (Fountain).

June 30 - Freddy Vilches and Fernell Lopez play contemporary Latin music, noon to 1 p.m. (Fountain).

July 1 - Ariel Storm, noon to 1 p.m. (Fountain).

July 2 - The Kutsinhira Marimba Youth Ensemble, noon to 1:15 p.m. (Promenade), and the Arts Umbrella orchestra, 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. (Promenade).

July 3 - Marc Evans, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (Fountain).
