Researchers at RAND telephoned 6,700 adults living in 12 cities in the U.S. and inquired about their health care experiences. They then obtained their medical records and compared the recorded treatments with the recommended treatments for 30 acute and chronic conditions, and for preventive care Preventive care is a set of measures taken in advance of symptoms to prevent illness or injury.
