Psytechnics, the leader in voice quality measurement, will conduct the first ever independent tests to measure the level of voice quality provided by four major wireless carriers. The goal of the exercise is to understand how voice quality differs among the providers and to identify which may offer the clearest service.

Psytechnics will test the networks simultaneously under real-world conditions. Calls will be analyzed by Psytechnics' PESQ PESQ Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (ITU-T)  software (Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality). PESQ is the ITU (International Telecommunication Union, Geneva, Switzerland, www.itu.ch) A telecommunications standards body that is under the auspices of the United Nations. Comprising more than 185 member countries, the ITU sets standards for global telecom networks.  standard for voice quality measurement.

The results of the tests will highlight to operators how their network voice quality varies in different conditions and locations. The analysis will also provide end users with an additional benchmark when considering which mobile network to use.

As the actual handset plays a role in affecting voice quality, Psytechnics will select leading mobile phone brands and rigorously test them on the four networks selected, using ASTS ASTS American Society of Transplant Surgeons
ASTS Aeromedical Staging Squadron
ASTS Asbestos in Schools Tracking System
ASTS Advanced Surveillance & Tracking System
ASTS Advance Supplement Testing Systems, Inc.
