Prudential gives life a boost; Grant to help not-for-profit educate public about the value of insurance.WASHINGTON, D.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 13, 1995--The Prudential Life Insurance Co. of America has presented a grant of $2 million to the Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education (LIFE) The grant will support the not-for-profit organization's public education programs to inform consumers about the role and value of life and health insurance agents, products and services. It is the largest single contribution made to the organization, which kicked off its education initiative on June 1, 1995. "The Prudential is proud to make this contribution to LIFE and to the 165,000 agents LIFE represents," said Arthur F. Ryan, chairman and chief executive officer of The Prudential. "The image of our industry has declined and we need to do something about it. Supporting LIFE is a great way for the life and health insurance industry to band together and to support the thousands of agents at work each day. LIFE was formed in 1994 by seven life and health insurance groups in the U.S. and Canada in response to the growing need to educate the public about the value of life and health insurance and the invaluable role of the professional agent. LIFE recently launched a broad and aggressive educational campaign to help raise the level of awareness about the benefits of health and life insurance. "We appreciate Art Ryan's leadership and Prudential's support," said David F. Woods, LIFE's president. "LIFE is just beginning and with Prudential's support it's off to a great start."
