Prudential Receives Two Awards From ``Beyond Computing Magazine''.

The Prudential Insurance Co. of America today announced that two of its subsidiaries, Prudential Real Estate and Relocation Services and Prudential Securities, have been recognized by "Beyond Computing Magazine" for their outstanding successes in creating strong partnerships between information technology and business teams.

Prudential Real Estate and Relocation Services was selected as the winner of "Beyond Computing's" prestigious Silver Partnership Award and Prudential Securities received an Award of Excellence.

Prudential Real Estate and Relocation Services was awarded a Silver Partnership Award for its focus on two significant relocation initiatives: DocProd and Equiclose. Each proprietary application demonstrates groundbreaking strengths achieved through a close partnership between information technology and business leaders.

DocProd is a sophisticated document production system which, when triggered by key events in the relocation process, produces comprehensive and time-sensitive documents and forms necessary for corporate clients and transferring employees. Equiclose is a Web-enabled application developed to streamline the lengthy and time-consuming efforts of processing equity distributions and closing activities associated with homeownership changes.

Prudential Securities was presented "Beyond Computing's" Award of Excellence for Prudential Advisor(SM), a program that emphasizes advice at the center of client relationships, charging clients an asset-based advisory fee and replacing traditional sales commissions with a low-priced transaction charge for trades.

Online features for Prudential Advisor(SM) include PruTrade(SM), which allows clients to enter stock orders around the clock over the Internet (orders transacted during market hours); access to account information at any time; and online cash management services, including bill paying through PruPay(R) (see note 1).

Prudential Securities was also recognized for PruServ, Prudential Securities Call Center's customer service desk application. PruServ helps customer service representatives quickly access client information on one window, while the system automates call tracking, case management and workflow.

The custom-designed application is the standard for the back-office systems and the model for all client call centers.

The honor marks the second year that Prudential Real Estate Affiliates Inc. has been recognized by "Beyond Computing Magazine." In 1998, the company earned "Beyond Computing's" Award of Excellence for its innovative use of technology in creating PREA Center, an intranet site accessed by 100 percent of the company's real estate brokers and AIMS, a Lotus Notes application that links all internal staff members with necessary information and collaboration capabilities.

All applicants for this year's awards were evaluated on the business value derived from the technology initiatives they delivered, specifically focusing on five different criteria: (1) effectiveness of partnership between information technology and corporate management; (2) benefits achieved through this partnership; (3) business management's involvement in technology advancement; (4) IT management's involvement in supporting business objectives; and (5) strategic value placed on technology by corporate management.

From this process, 10 finalists were identified and given an Award of Excellence. "Beyond Computing" then re-evaluated each application and selected three companies that would be awarded a platinum, gold or silver partnership award. Prudential Real Estate and Relocation Services was among one of the three companies honored with this award.
