Proximus B2b acquires assets from Helmers Publishing.

The Retail Systems Alert Group (RSAG), a unit of Proximus B2B (Newton, MA), has acquired all the assets of the Supply Chain Group from Helmers Publishing (Dublin, NH). No terms of the deal were given. Proximus is an Alta Communications (Boston, MA) company.

The Supply Chain Group includes "Supply Chain Manufacturing & Logistics (SCML)," a monthly magazine launched in 1982, "SCMUs" web site, scml-mag.com, "Chief Supply Chain Officer," a bi-monthly publication with a controlled circulation of 20,000 executives who have responsibility for their manufacturing and logistics operations, the print and online editions of "SCML Buyers Guide," "Chief Supply Chain Officer Insights," an e-newsletter, "Chief Supply Chain Officer's" web site, "Supply Chain Pick of the Week," an e-newsletter, and the Manufacturer-Retailer Connection Event.

Proximus ceo Kevin Condon said the acquisition of the Helmers assets "provides tremendous added value to RSAG's constituents. Readers, subscribers, sponsors, attendees and advertisers ... now gain new insights and added value with the addition of two formerly underserved sectors of the extended retail industry (ERI)." Helmers said that it now will expand into new markets and continue to build around its core magazine, "Desktop Engineering," and its ancillary products. In a statement, Helmers president Steve Robbins said "we are defining our company to meet our customers' needs as they change. They are telling us how their businesses are run and are fundamentally different than just a few years ago."

RSAG's "ERI, Extended Retail Industry Journal" was launched last year and is now published monthly for 23,000 senior decision-makers and business executives throughout the extended retail industry. Content includes coverage of processes and technology throughout the retail chain. The group also produces "Top of the Net," a weekly e-newsletter, "RetailIT Solutions Directory" and retailsystems.com.
