Independent KTLA plans to go on the air this summer with a local morning news program that it hopes will snatch snatch

Van Hoogstraten recently was named executive producer of the new "KTLA Morning News" and is busy hiring people and putting the show together. Prior to this assignment, he was the station's director of creative services Creative Services are a subsector of the creative industries, a part of the economy that creates wealth by offering creativity for hire to other businesses. Examples include:

.

"It is a news program, but it still has to have all the elements of a successful show," said van Hoogstraten, who also has worked as a producer and director. "The people we're hiring are all news experts."

He said he expects the program to succeed because it's "filling a void here."

"Our emphasis is local. Our emphasis is live," van Hoogstraten said. "When they see the morning (network) shows, they're three hours old. In the two-hour |Today' show, there's 10 minutes of local."

Raymond Brune, producer of the new KTLA new program, will work overnights, van Hoogstraten said, as will most of the program's 20-member editorial staff. Van Hoogstraten said he gets to work days because he will be coordinating such elements as show promotion and advertising sales.

He said the morning news team also will provide tape for the station's late news program.
