Promoting Ski safety.


Making skiing and snowboarding safer for children is the goal of an educational campaign launched last year by the National Ski Areas Association, Lakewood, Colorado The City of Lakewood is a home rule municipality located in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. Lakewood is the fourth most populous city in the State of Colorado and the 164th most populous city in the United States. . NSAA's "Lids on Kids" program promotes safety on the slopes and encourages helmet use. Featured resources on its Web site, www.lidsonkids.org, discuss helmet safety and a personal responsibility code (e.g., observe signs and warnings, always stay in control, use lifts safely).

During National Safety Awareness Week, observed January 17-23, NSAA-member resorts showcased their safety-education efforts. NSAA NSAA National Ski Areas Association

 and Ski magazine also sponsored the fifth annual National Kids Safety Poster Contest, which encourages children to create posters promoting the seven principles of the responsibility code.
