Projects win honors at Design Awards for architects' chapter.A Chinese project, a Los Angeles multi-family home community, the Lake View Terrace Branch Library and two single family residences won top honors on January 29 at the annual Design Awards sponsored by the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills. chapter of the American Institute of Architects The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is a professional organization for architects in the United States. In a special honor award category for the Best Community Development, the winner was Thomas Properties Group for the Valencia Town Center. Two architectural firms, Los Angeles-based, Rothenberg Sawasy Architects and Santa Monica-based WWCOT WWCOT Whisker Wall Coated Open Tubular Column , dominated the event attended by more than 200 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel. WWCOT snagged four awards, including one Honor Award (top category), and RSA (1) (Rural Service Area) See MSA. (2) (Rivest-Shamir-Adleman) A highly secure cryptography method by RSA Security, Inc., Bedford, MA (www.rsa.com), a division of EMC Corporation since 2006. It uses a two-part key. won three awards, including an Honor Award for its work in China and Los Angeles. Honor Awards also went to architects Robert Anderson and J. Thomas Kaiser for the Warbler warbler, name applied in the New World to members of the wood warbler family (Parulidae) and in the Old World to a large family (Sylviidae) of small, drab, active songsters, including the hedge sparrow, the kinglet, and the tailorbird of SE Asia, residence and Sostrin residence, respectively. Additionally, Fields Devereaux took home an award for the Lakeview Terrace Library, WWCOT got an award for the Wuhan Master Plan, and RSA got an award for the building at 4111 Sunset Blvd. |
