Projectavision's Solo-2 Makes a Shining Impression On Dealers Nationwide; New Enhancements To Front Projection Unit Raises Picture Quality.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 11, 1998--SOLO-2(TM), Projectavision's newly enhanced front projection unit that delivers a true-to-life digital image, is receiving rave reviews from dealers across the country. The SOLO-2(TM) delivers high quality images from 4 inches to over 260 inches (diagonally) in size with superior picture quality and color imagery.

Recent picture quality enhancements to the unit, such as the addition of a Digital Comb Filter A bandpass filter used to process audio and video signals by mixing the original with a delayed signal. Comb filters allow selected frequencies to pass while blocking their harmonics and all other frequencies.  and Variable Digital Zoom Simulating a longer focal length in a digital camera via software. The digital zoom is accomplished via image enhancement software within the camera itself rather than the inherent mechanics of the physical zoom lens. For more details, see optical zoom. , have made the SOLO-2(TM) a favorite front projection unit in dealer showrooms across the country, dealers say. "The picture looks phenomenal when hooked up to a standard computer system," said Todd Freeland, owner of Audio Video Lifestyles in Fort Wayne, Indiana “Fort Wayne” redirects here. For other uses, see Fort Wayne (disambiguation).

Fort Wayne is a city in northeastern Indiana, USA and the county seat of Allen County. Fort Wayne is Indiana's second largest city after Indianapolis.
. "The SOLO-2's amazing picture quality easily surpasses the competition. LCD projection is good, but the use of microchip technology Microchip Technology (NASDAQ: MCHP) is a manufacturer of microcontroller, memory and analog semiconductors, founded in 1989 when  produces brilliant images without distortion. No other projection unit in the same price range can deliver the same quality images from computer, television broadcast or an external video source."

The SOLO-2(TM) utilizes 2-chip Digital Light Processing(TM) technology from Texas Instruments See TI.

, which produces distortion-free, vivid pictures without seeing the pixels so evident in other technology. The unit employs two DLP (Digital Light Processing) A data projection technology from TI that produces clear, readable images on screens in lit rooms. DLP is used in all types of projection devices, from data projectors that weigh only a few pounds to large rear-projection TVs to electronic (TM) microchips that allow both video and computer-generated images to be reflected onto a screen while maintaining a full color spectrum.

"The first thing customers recognize is how bright the images are that SOLO-2 produces and how sharp and crisp they look. The depth of image is remarkable too," states Mike Dodson of Hillcrest High Fidelity Inc. located in Dallas, Texas. "The large minimum and maximum viewing distance feature gives the buyer the option to place the projector virtually anywhere in a room and still get a clear image without color loss or loss of image quality."

"The picture quality of the SOLO-2 is by far the equal of projectors costing $15,000 or more," states Bjorn Dybdahl, owner of Bjorn's Stereo Design in San Antonio, Texas “San Antonio” redirects here. For other uses, see San Antonio (disambiguation).
San Antonio is the second most populous city in Texas, the third most populous metropolitan area in Texas, and is the seventh most populous city in the United States. As of the 2006 U.S.
. "The SOLO-2 is one of the most versatile projectors on the market. By comparison with the original Digital Home Theater(TM) unit, black levels are significantly better, the colors are more vivid and dot crawl is virtually non-existent. It's also very easy to use -- it's the equivalent of a point-and-shoot projector. Customers have also commented on how quiet the SOLO-2 is while viewing. It really has an effect on how much attention you give to what you are watching." The unit has been modified to eliminate two of the three original fans, thus decreasing noise output.

At 28.5 pounds, SOLO-2(TM) is portable and compact, ideal for many room settings, according to Projectavision. The unit boasts an auto lock to insure that HRC HRC Human Rights Campaign
