) has selected SmartSignal's early warning Equipment Condition Monitoring(TM) (ECM) software to monitor a fleet of 130 turbines located at 30 sites throughout the Southeast United States. ECM is an exception based monitoring system that helps companies increase return on assets Return on assets (ROA)

The ability of SmartSignal ECM to monitor a variety of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  turbines played an important role in Progress Energy's decision to purchase the monitoring solution. SmartSignal ECM can monitor all turbine OEMs as well as balance of plant equipment.

Progress Energy first implemented SmartSignal ECM at the Hines combined cycle complex in

Spring 2004; and implemented SmartSignal ECM in three weeks at the Richmond combined cycle plant in June. SmartSignal consulted with Progress Energy on those two initial implementations; however, Progress Energy will independently deploy ECM throughout the rest of the fleet.
