Programs and strategies: renewing our commitments: LACWHN. (Latin American and Caribbean Women's Health Network).


In early April, the Board of Directors of the Latin American and Caribbean Women's Health Women's Health Definition

Women's health is the effect of gender on disease and health that encompasses a broad range of biological and psychosocial issues.
 Network met in Santiago, Chile Santiago, officially Santiago de Chile (Spanish: ), is the capital of Chile, and the center of its largest conurbation (Greater Santiago).  for their first annual meeting of 2003. These few days of intense work began with a warm welcome for Emma Reyes, our new board member from the Mexican organization Salud y Genero (Gender and Health). On this occasion, all LACWHN's strategic lines of action were revised, and some of the Network's programs were analyzed.

 agreements, which has been ongoing since 1996 and currently includes seven countries of the region. The board members also decided to review and renew the Network's membership process and structure for both individual and group members. Also being planned is a virtual forum for political debate on the current context and strategies that should be developed collectively from a feminist perspective. White these commitments had been discussed in previous meetings, this time the board members again stressed the importance of strengthening LACWHN's membership and continuing to improve the channels of communication between the groups and the Coordinating Office.

At the close of this meeting, LACWHN celebrated another milestone: the creation of the Advisory Council composed of past board members and coordinators of the Network. This group will support and advise the Board of Directors in a range of areas, contributing their knowledge and long experiences as members of the Network as well as in their respective organizations. This first meeting was attended by past Assistant Coordinator, Maria Isabel Matamala as well as Olga Amparo Sanchez, Elvira Lutz and Ana Maria Portugal, past board members.
