Programming Plus Introduces First Robotic Machining Cell; New Machining Cell Provides More Efficient and Lower Cost Alternative to Large CNC Machines.NEW BERLIN, Wis. -- Programming Plus Inc. (PPI (1) (Pixels Per Inch) The measurement of the resolution of a monitor or scanner. For example, a monitor that is 16 inches wide and displays 1600 pixels across its width would have a resolution of 100 ppi (1600 divided by 16). ), a leading value added reseller See VAR. (company) value added reseller - (VAR, or "value added retailer") A company which sells something (e.g. computers) made by another company (an OEM) with extra components added (e.g. specialist software). of complex milling processes, today introduced the PPI Robotic Machining Cell(TM) (RMC RMC Royal Military College RMC Radio Monte Carlo RMC Randolph-Macon College (Ashland, Virginia) RMC Regional Medical Center RMC Robert Morris College (Illinois) RMC Rocky Mountain College ). The RMC system is a new technology designed to revolutionize large format 5-axis machining. Utilizing the speed, accuracy and flexibility of KUKA Robotics' robots and extensive programming and simulation capabilities of Delcam's PowerMILL software, PPI has developed its machining system that allows customers to program and machine products more efficiently and cost effectively than current large CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) See numerical control. CNC - Collaborative Networked Communication machines. "The RMC system allows customers to program and machine products that were too cost prohibitive, complex or time consuming to machine in the past," said Tom Bentley Tom Bentley is an author and policy analyst based in Australia but originally born and educated in the United Kingdom. He is currently Executive Director for policy and cabinet for the Premier of Victoria, Australia and a visiting professor at the Australia and New Zealand , president of Programming Plus. "The RMC's user can now easily program any 3 or 5 axis part and switch from part to part in a matter of minutes A Matter of Minutes is an episode from the television series The New Twilight Zone. The RMC system is the only robotic machining cell that offers all the functionality of a traditional CNC Machining Center. The RMC utilizes a tool changing high speed spindle, laser tool probe, and laser part probing. Using a CAM system which is included with the cell, the user can easily program any 3 or 5 axis part. The RMC system uses Delcam's PowerMILL software to translate CAD/CAM CAD/CAM in full computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing. Integration of design and manufacturing into a system under direct control of digital computers. files to be used to program the robot. The routines developed within the software quickly produce programs for the robots that allow smooth machining of large components. The system can utilize multiple KUKA robot models depending on the customer's needs and can be configured to reach up to a 24' diameter. Utilizing robots gives the user a larger work envelope and a much lower cost than conventional 5 axis machine tools. One system can mill from one position 2, 3, 4 or even more parts stationed around it and in many cases, it can load its own parts. For additional travel capability the robot can also be mounted on a linear rail. Programming Plus Inc. will be showcasing the new RMC system in its booth (#437) at the Wisconsin Manufacturing and Machine Tool Expo in West Allis, Wisconsin West Allis is a city in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 61,254 at the 2000 census. The Wisconsin State Fair Park (which includes the Milwaukee Mile, and is the site of the annual Wisconsin State Fair) is located in West Allis. September 27-29, 2005. Programming Plus is a Value Added Reseller (VAR) specializing in services for complex milling processes. Located in New Berlin, WI the company is a leading dealer of Delcam products. The company also offers hands on training classes at its corporate offices.
