Cuba, among the world's largest nickel and cobalt producers, launched a program with Canadian mining firm Sherritt International Sherritt International (TSX: S) is a Canadian energy company, based in Toronto, Ontario. It is involved in nickel and cobalt mining, thermal coal production, oil and gas exploration and production, and electricity generation.  Corp. to increase output by about half to 49,000 metric tons (54,013 tons) annually, state media said, reports AP (April 20, 2006).
