Program offers citizens inside look at police work.

Ever wonder how police officers get chosen? How detectives investigate a crime? What community policing is?

Eugene residents can learn all this and more at the 16th annual Citizens' Police Academy from Sept. 4 to Dec. 11. The academy is a free, 13-week series of classes designed to educate the public about Eugene police operations. It meets weekly from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursdays, plus three Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Most classes are held at the Emergency Services emergency services Emergency care '…services …necessary to prevent death or serious impairment of health and, because of the danger to life or health, require the use of the most accessible hospital available and equipped to furnish those services'  Training Center at West Second Avenue and Chambers Street Chambers Street is a street in Edinburgh, Scotland, at south of the Old Town. Interested citizens must live or work in Eugene and be at least 19 years old.
