The "Symposium on Media and Democracy" will examine the rush to publish, the effect of profit pressures and "bloggers" on the mainstream media, the interaction between media and American democracy, along with other pressing issues that have significantly impacted the media's role in today's society.

The "Symposium on Media and Democracy" is presented as part of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication's Hearst Distinguished Lecture Series. Home to 6 Pulitzer Prize winners, the department prides itself in providing students with a comprehensive education necessary for future career success.
