Professional issues forums offer valuable information on foundation awards.

The Foundation professional issues forums, "Foundation Funding: How To Get It" and "How Foundation Research Facilitates Follow-On Funding," held on June 20, 2003, at PT 2003, offered valuable information on how to improve the chances of being awarded Foundation funding and on how Foundation-supported research provides the basis for acquiring funding from other funding sources. Information was presented by member of the Foundation's Scientific Review Committee (SRC (SouRCe) Contrast with DST, which is an abbreviation of "destination." ) and grant recipients.

; and members of the SRC offered tips on how to make applications for foundation funding more competitive and gave insight into what reviewers look for, as well as information on how the committee scores applications and on the similarities between the Foundations and NIH's review processes.

Kathleen Kline Mangione, PT, PhD, GCS, Arcadia University, a 2000 Foundation grant recipient, discussed how presentations of her Foundation-funded research enabled her to secure subsequent funding from NIH "Not invented here." See digispeak.
