Professional Women in Construction celebrate in style.

Neither sleet nor snow nor traffic tie-ups kept the holiday revelers from the annual black tie dinner dance gala hosted by Professional Women in Construction (PWC) on Friday, December 5 --the day the first blizzard of the season cloaked the New York metro area in white. Spirits were high as guests filled the Grand Ballroom of The Yale Club in New York City, eager to toast the dawn of PWC's 24 year.

The festive strains of Stan Rubin's Orchestra encouraged all to trip the light fantastic.

PWC President Lenore Janis congratulated the crowd for braving the elements, noting that "PWC supporters are a determined lot and clearly, we are a force to be reckoned with!" She introduced Dinner Dance Chairperson Kristy Holt, PMCS engineer for Turner Construction Company and new member of the PWC Board of Directors as "a professional who left no stone unturned to assist PWC" and "one of Turner's best and brightest, the woman of the hour." The band played "'Hello Kristy" to the tune of "Hello Dolly" as Holt approached the podium.

Holt likewise thanked the audience and said, "Even a blizzard does not keep us from coming out to support PWC and having a good time." Adding that she is "very excited to be part of this wonderful group," she thanked the members of PWC for their continued support and invited others to join "a great organization with an even greater goal."

PWC Vice President Theresa Vigilante expressed appreciation to Turner Construction Company; Tishman Realty & Construction Co., Inc.; VRH Torcon and the many other large to small businesses for their generous support of the holiday event and PWC's efforts, since 1980, to further the advancement of women in construction and related industries.

The remaining members of the Dinner Dance Committee were Linda Christensen, Esq., general counsel, Tishman Realty & Construction Co., Inc.; Frank Fellone, vice president of D.R Consulting Corp.; Lina Gottesman, president, Altus Metal & Marble Maintenance; Amy Breslaw, CEO of Mac Felder Plumbing; and Connie DeLaigle, principal of CDL Consulting.

A raffle drawing, including JetBlue Airways tickets, a catered dinner at home by Gold Coast Chefs, Yankee tickets, Elizabeth Arden Spa, Tiffany crystal, DVD and complimentary dinners at NYC restaurants were among the prizes. Raffle contributors were Ibex Construction; JetBlue Airways; Lori Simon; Warren & Panzer Engineers PC; 11 Valentino Restaurant; La Maganette Ristorante; and Da Antonio Restaurant.

On Thursday, January 22, 2004, PWC will host the next in its series of Developers' Forums, "West Side Story: From Hell's Kitchen to Freedom Tower," from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Mechanics Institute, 20 West 44th Street in New York City.
