Administrative Verification is now available. It will allow part- or full-time college and university faculty to become NCTMs by recognizing and using their college/university evaluation processes and credentials CREDENTIALS, international law. Administrative Verification Since the inception of the current MTNA Professional Certification Professional certification, trade certification, or professional designation, often called simply certification or qualification, is a designation earned by a person to assure that he/she is qualified to perform a job or task. Program, college and university faculty have expressed concerns about their evaluation processes and the fact that their credentials were not recognized in the program's requirements. The MTNA Board of Directors and the NCC have listened to these concerns, and the outcome is the new Option 3. Administrative Verification. It takes advantage of the evaluation processes and credentials that already are in Place within college and university structures. Option 3 also serves as an additional route for the MTNA Professional Certification Program to be more inclusive of inclusive of prep. Taking into consideration or account; including. a diverse MTNA membership while remaining true to its philosophy and Standards. Expectations are that college and university faculty will find the new Option 3 appropriate and appealing as they experience the certification process. Procedural Process College and university faculty candidates for MTNA Professional Certification first must successfully complete the requirements for the common body of knowledge that competent music teachers should possess. Candidates who select Option 3. Administrative Verification to validate the Standard II, III and IV requirements will be sent a cover letter containing instructions with an Administrative Verification Form. The certification candidate completes the first portion of the form. The candidate proceeds by asking his or her college or university administrator to complete, sign and date the second portion. The form instructs the administrator to verify by checking "YES" or "NO" whether or not the candidate's professional teaching evaluations and credentials meet specific criteria of Standards II, III and IV (what a competent music teacher should be able to do). The administrator signs and dates the form, places it in an envelope provided, seals and signs his or her name across the seal for confidentiality, and returns it to the candidate, who mails the envelope directly to MTNA. Upon receipt, MTNA will evaluate and process the form. The MTNA Professional Certification Program is pleased to offer this new Option 3. Administrative Verification to college/university faculty MTNA members and non-members alike.
