Private equity firm takes coveted top floor at Lever House.


Cushman & Wakefield announced that international private equity firm, Hellman & Friedman, has signed a lease for the top floor at the Lever House Lever House, designed by Gordon Bunshaft of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and located at 390 Park Avenue in New York City, is the quintessential and seminal glass box International Style skyscraper, and holds the distinction of being the first curtain wall in New York City. .

It is the first time the floor had been available for lease since the building was built in 1951.

Hellman & Friedman signed a 10,400 s/f lease for the entire 21st floor at the Lever House, located at 390 Park Ave. between 53rd and 54th Streets.

The firm will relocate from its current location at the Seagram Building Seagram Building

High-rise office building in New York City (1958). Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Philip Johnson, this sleek Park Avenue skyscraper is a pure example of a rectilinear prism sheathed in glass and bronze; it took the International Style to its zenith.

Cushman & Wakefield executive vice president Jonathan R. Serko and associate director David Malawer represented Hellman & Friedman in its site selection and in lease negotiations with the landlord, 390 Tower Associates.

"The opportunity to occupy the top floor in an office building of this caliber is extremely rare," said Serko.

Since its founding in 1984, Hellman & Friedman has managed more than $8 billion of capital and has invested in more than 50 companies. The firm has additional offices in San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden  and London.

Built in 1951, the Lever House is a 21-story, class-A office tower totaling about 260,000 square feet. In addition to Hellman & Friedman, major tenants include ALCOA and Thomas Weisel Partners Thomas Weisel Partners Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: TWPG), often shortened to just TWP or TWeisel, is a U.S. middle-market and growth focused investment banking firm based in San Francisco, California. .
