Private companies react to Sarbanes-Oxley. (News Digest).


In a recent survey of 1,400 CFOs of privately held businesses, 58% said they planned to implement specific practices in response to the corporate governance Corporate Governance

The relationship between all the stakeholders in a company. This includes the shareholders, directors, and management of a company, as defined by the corporate charter, bylaws, formal policy, and rule of law.
 standards being imposed on their public counterparts. These included:
Reviewing or changing current accounting procedures   44%
Creating or expanding the internal audit function     36%
Hiring an independent company for
consulting work                                       23%
Restructuring executive
compensation plans                                     8%
Taking some
other step                                             2%
