PrismTech Selected by Raytheon to Provide Real-Time Java(TM) Middleware for Navy's DDG 1000 Zumwalt Class Destroyer Program.

BOSTON, MA -- PrismTech[TM], a leading provider of productivity tools and middleware, announced that its OpenFusion([R]) RTOrb Java(TM) Edition CORBA([R]) middleware has been selected by Raytheon for development and deployment in the U.S. Navy's DDG 1000 Zumwalt Class Destroyer program.

Formerly known as the DD(X) destroyer program, DDG 1000 Zumwalt is the lead ship of a class of next-generation multi-mission destroyers tailored for land attack and littoral dominance. DDG 1000 will provide forward presence and deterrence, and operate as an integral part of joint and combined expeditionary forces. Raytheon serves as the prime mission systems equipment integrator for the DDG 1000 program.

PrismTech's OpenFusion([R]) RTOrb Java(TM) Edition CORBA([R]) middleware provides a unified COTS-based solution for integrating diverse distributed systems. Raytheon will incorporate OpenFusion([R]) RTOrb Java(TM) Edition in its implementation of the Total Ship Computing Environment Infrastructure (TSCEI)Coan integrated suite of standardized, open architecture hardware, operating system, middleware and infrastructure services. Developed for the U.S. Navy by Raytheon and its subcontractors, TSCEI forms the backbone of the Navy's Total Ship Computing EnvironmentCoa robust, enterprise-network computing system on which all DDG 1000 application software programs run.
