Princeton Softech's database archiving technology supports EMC's Centera Compliance Edition.

Princeton Softech, the pioneer and leader in database archiving, has announced general availability of Princeton Softech's Archive for Servers 5.2. This new release enables companies to meet and exceed all audit, reporting, business and legislative compliance requirements Compliance requirements are a series of directives established by United States Federal government agencies that summarize hundreds of Federal laws and regulations applicable to Federal assistance (also known as Federal aid or Federal funds).  for complex relational database relational database

Founded in 1979 by Richard J. Egan and Roger Marino, EMC has developed advanced storage and retrieval technologies for the world's largest companies.  Centera Compliance Edition content addressed storage A storage technique from EMC for content that is in its final form (fixed content). CAS assigns an identifier to the files so they can be accessed no matter where they are located.  (CAS), while providing safe and secure access to archived data.

"EMC Centera Compliance Edition sets a new standard in compliance capabilities for electronically stored records, and allows companies to satisfy the most stringent data retention requirements cost-effectively and accurately," said Roy Sanford, EMC's Vice President of Content Addressed Storage. "By supporting EMC's Compliance Edition, Princeton Softech's database archiving technology enables companies to archive data from relational databases and manage it in compliance with federal regulations."

"Data retention and compliance requirements are critical issues for today's companies or they risk severe penalties for non-compliance," said Lisa Cash, Princeton Softech's CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. . "Princeton Softech's database archiving technology is essential in enabling companies to improve the way they manage and store their business data to ensure compliance throughout the data lifecycle."

Princeton Softech's Active Archive Solutions lead the database archiving market, providing solutions that can leverage the data retention compliance capabilities of EMC Centera. The new compliance capabilities in Archive for Servers include support for Centera Compliance Edition's retention enforcement features, which enable users to set hardened retention periods on electronic records. The retention periods are specified in Archive for Servers and EMC Centera enforces the data retention period in the storage environment.

Companies need the flexibility to manage enterprise data optimally throughout the data lifecycle to match evolving business requirements. For example, business requirements differ for "current" and "historical" data. Current data requires maximum performance and availability. In contrast, historical data must also be easily accessible, but authenticity The correct attribution of origin such as the authorship of an e-mail message or the correct description of information such as a data field that is properly named. Authenticity is one of the six fundamental components of information security (see Parkerian Hexad). , long-term retention and lower cost are also key factors in determining the best method for data retention. Archive for Servers 5.2 provides the full spectrum of options for optimal data lifecycle management.

Based on regulatory and legislative requirements, IT organizations must develop a plan for managing and retaining data for as long as it is required, and then disposing of the data when it is no longer needed. Archive for Servers provides proven technology for managing the accumulation of data within enterprise application databases and ensures compliance with data retention requirements, while providing responsive access to the archived data stored on EMC Centera.

Princeton Softech's Active Archive Solutions for both the mainframe and open systems environments address the challenge of accelerating database growth over the long term. These solutions safely remove rarely-accessed data from overloaded o·ver·load
