Prime Therapeutics Expands Pharmacy Benefit Operations in Omaha.

OMAHA, Neb. -- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska-owned Pharmacy Benefit Manager Will Nearly Double its Omaha Staff to Serve New Clients

Prime Therapeutics LLC (Prime) has announced the expansion of its business in Omaha with the addition of approximately 80 new employees through December 2004 and an expected additional 75 new employees through 2006. The company's expansion is the result of new contracts with Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans. Currently, Prime provides pharmacy benefit management services to nine Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska.

The majority of new positions are professional roles in pharmacy benefit administration and customer service. In addition to competitive salaries, the jobs offer a wide range of benefits, including cafeteria-style medical benefits, a 401(k) plan with company match, and tuition reimbursement. The company currently employs nearly 500 employees, with more than 100 in its Omaha office. Headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota, Prime has additional offices in Omaha, Chicago and Irving, Texas.

"Prime is a fast-growing company that attracts the best and brightest employees. Our Omaha office is staffed with talented, highly skilled professionals who provide quality services to our clients," said Tim Dickman, president and chief executive officer at Prime. "Through our expansion, we are creating additional jobs for employees of the highest caliber, and we are proud to demonstrate our continued civic and community commitment to the Omaha area."

Housing professional pharmacy benefit and customer service staff in its present Omaha location since 1999, Prime has experienced impressive growth in the past year. In the last 12 months, the Omaha staff grew from approximately 60 employees to 100. The company is remodeling its existing office at 7330 Woolworth Avenue to accommodate its growth and expects to eventually move to a larger facility depending on 2005 and 2006 growth.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska and Prime have a long-standing partnership, dating back to 1993 when the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska subsidiary ProPar Services, Inc., and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota subsidiary, Pharmacy Gold Inc., partnered to provide pharmacy benefit management services. The merger of these two organizations in 1998 created Prime Therapeutics, now partly owned by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska.

"The Omaha community has long enjoyed the support and commitment of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska," said David G. Brown, president and chief executive officer of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce. "We're thrilled that Prime Therapeutics has furthered that relationship by demonstrating in a big way its own commitment to our city."

Dickman adds that Prime is in the process of joining the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce and looks forward to supporting the Omaha community.

In addition to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska, Prime provides pharmacy benefit management services to Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Minnesota, Kansas, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Montana. Beginning in January 2005, Prime will also begin serving a contract with Health Care Service Corporation, the company that owns Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska, an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, provides health care coverage or benefit administration to more than 560,000 people. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is a not-for-profit mutual insurance company.
