Prime Minister receives ITU Secretary-General.

TUNIS, Nov. 23, 2009 (TAP) - Prime Minister Mohamed Ghannouchi received, on Monday in Tunis, Mr. Hamadoun TourE[umlaut], Secretary-General of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

Mr. TourE[umlaut] said the talk had allowed to take stock of the achievements made as part of implementation of the resolutions and recommendations of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and the 4th International Forum of Information and Communication Technologies "ICTs-4-All."

He also said that the talk had provided the opportunity to review prospects for developing the ICTs sector, pointing out that future projects will focus on setting up a regional strategy likely to prompt a better inter-African connection, consolidation of ICTs training programmes, achievement of national objectives (rise in the number of broadband Internet users) and establishment of a regulatory framework encouraging investment in this sector.

The talk was attended by Minister of Communication Technologies El Hadj Gley.
