Preview: Essential Limon On Tour.

Jose Limon's Missa Brevis needs up to 22 dancers, but the Limon Dance Company has only 13. So during the company's 2006-07 tour, former Limon company members will act as reconstructors and choose nine student dancers at each location to perform in this spirited ode to human resilience. Limon created it in 1958 after witnessing the rebuilding of a demolished post-WWII Poland. Using ritualistic folk dance and Christian iconography, the piece extols the human ability to unify and heal. Scheduled partnerships include Skidmore College (May 29 -June 23), University of Maryland (Sept.), Emory University (Oct.), North Carolina School of the Arts (Feb. 2007), University of Minnesota (TBA), and New World School, Miami (TBA). www.limon.org.
