President and CEO of Neiman Marcus Group Honored by the French Government.

Burton M. Tansky, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Neiman Marcus Group was recently honored by the French Government, with an appointment as Chevalier (Knight) de la Legion d'Honneour.

The awards ceremony was held at the Caroussel du Louvre in Paris on October 9, 2002 during the showing of the Paris Ready-to-Wear Collections. Minister of Industry, Nicole Fontaine, bestowed the honor upon Mr. Tansky at a cocktail reception attended by friends and colleagues from the fashion industry.

Mr. Tansky was recipient of this honor for his contribution for promoting a strong acceptance for French-made merchandise in America. Throughout his twenty-eight year career as a specialty store executive, Tansky has been a strong proponent of French produced products, which consistently reflect great creativity, elegance and style. From silver, fine crystal and porcelain, food and wine, fragrance and cosmetic, as well as the finest French fashion, Mr. Tansky has long admired the quality of all products produced in France.

Among all French civil awards, the Legion of Honor is the best- known, the most prestigious and one of the oldest in France. A law creating the Legion of Honor was proclaimed by the Court of Napoleon 1st on "29 Floreal An 10" (May 20, 1802). The award was designed to reward soldiers and civil servants for their exceptional service and dedication to France and to the Emperor.
