 addressed attendees at Direct Marketing Association Nonprofit Federation (DMANF DMANF Direct Marketing Association Nonprofit Federation ) 2005 Washington Nonprofit Conference at The Capitol Hilton, telling them that the world is watching the nation's humanitarian acts.

The conference, held Feb. 3 and 4, brought together more than 750 nonprofit fundraisers and vendors, a record for the conference. The organization also honored Ray Grace, of Creative Direct Response, for lifetime achievement.

"In the month since the tsunami struck, private citizens across America have contributed hundreds of millions of dollars for disaster relief and reconstruction. His message was facilitated through The Points of Light Foundation and THE NONPROFIT TIMEX.

Regarding his work with tsunami relief, he said that he "wished I could be there with you. As you know, President Clinton and I have gotten into your line of work recently."

He had words of encouragement for all fundraisers. 'Tm told that many fundraisers at charities not involved in relief operations fear that, because of the financial outpouring for the victims, support will not be there for their important causes," President Bush added. Also at the conference Raymond J. Grace, chairman, Creative Direct Response, was presented the 2005 Max Hart Achievement Award. Formerly known as the Nonprofit Achievement Award, it was renamed for Max Hart, formerly of the Disabled Americans Veterans, who is a longtime advocate, supporter and champion of professionalism for the nonprofit fundraising community. The award recognizes outstanding achievement by an individual in the nonprofit community.
